Consider the balance between privacy and light transfer for your glass selection.

Clear

As the name suggests, it is the standard glass most commonly used in many building applications. It allows maximum vision and light transfer; clear glass offers zero privacy.

Light Grey

Produced by adding a colourant during the manufacturing of clear glass. The light grey tint is an integral part of the glass and the colour cannot be removed. Light grey glass reduces glare, has better solar control than clear glass, while improving privacy during the daytime. It is possible to see through this glass at all times, however, especially so at night. So should not be considered if full privacy is required.

Dark Grey

Produced by adding a colourant during the manufacturing of clear glass. The dark grey tint is an integral part of the glass and the colour cannot be removed. Dark grey glass substantially reduces glare, has better solar control, and improved privacy during the daytime over both clear and light grey glass. It is possible to see through this glass at all times, however, especially so at night. So should not be considered if full privacy is required.

Satinlite

Satinlite glass is a perfect solution for privacy while maintaining a more natural glass look compared to white translucent glass. Slightly textured on one surface, satinlite glass has very small and closely spaced grooves in a cross-hatched pattern. It is an easy glass to maintain as the slightly rough appearance offers good resistance to finger prints.

White Translucent*

White translucent laminated glass is manufactured by combining a white type interlayer bonded between two layers of glass. This allows light to enter while achieving a very high degree of privacy.

Grey Translucent*

Grey translucent laminated glass is manufactured by combining a grey type interlayer bonded between two layers of glass. This allows less light transfer as opposed to white translucent to enter while again achieving a very high degree of privacy.

*Please note that the translucent laminated glass is not available for certain door designs as holes are required to be drilled through the glass to secure the floating timber panels. These designs are the Gibson, Simpson, Pedirka, Burdekin and Groote - only toughened glass options are availbale with this door design.
