Safety/Screen Mesh
(From left to right)
- Perforated aluminium
- Perforated stainless steel
- Woven stainless steel
We offer two very high-quality perforated sheet screen mesh options that have small round holes less than 2mm in diameter, available in either marine-grade aluminium or 304-grade stainless steel. We also offer a high-quality woven stainless steel mesh.
Aluminium Screen Frames
All three of our screen meshes are available in aluminium screen frames. These are used in designs with large surface areas to enhance security, as a sheet this size loses strength and stability (e.g., Artesian, Simpson, Gibson, Flinders, Mackenzie). These also can be included on louvre sidelights. Below is how the aluminium screen frames looks.
Sidelights
We offer a wide range of custom sidelights, designed to complement your chosen door style and enhance the entrance of your home.
Fixed Glass Sidelights (examples below)
What it is – A fixed glass sidelight is a single panel of glass, glazed inside the timber door jambs. A fixed glass sidelight is great option if you have a large opening.
Benefits include: Allows for extra light into your entryway. Customisable, you can order one large sidelight, or you could choose to have one on either side of the frame. All six of our glass types are available. Fixed glass sidelites are the most cost-effective sidelight option if you are looking to increase your home’s aesthetic appeal.
Louvre Sidelights (examples below)
What it is – A louvre sidelight includes louvre galleries fixed in place on both sides of the door jamb with glass louvres inserted horizontally. The galleries can be powder-coated in any colour to match existing aluminium joinery around your home. An aluminium-framed security screen is also an extra option. We offer, perforated aluminium and stainless steel as well as a woven stainless steel. (images in the screen mesh section). Having a framed screen does change the visual appeal (as shown below).
Benefits include: Allowing light and maximum airflow through, screen can provide extra security. It must also be noted that you cannot order either white or grey translucent louvre blades
Joinery Sidelights (examples below)
What it is – A joinery sidelight is built using the same joinery techniques as all of our doors. The timber is machined and glued together to create the sidelight. This method allows for customisation to suit designs with horizontal rails. The sidelight is then fixed into place inside both door jambs.
Benefits include: Aesthetically pleasing, can be made custom to match a large majority of door designs.
Locks
Pull Handles/Lever options
Out Standard Lock is a Mortice Deadlock supplied with either thumb-turns and a 600mm pull handle, or a lever handle.
The images in the gallery will show the visual design, however some locks will prove more practical for everyday use. It is recommended to consider what is more important – Visual appeal or functionality.
If you would like to provide your own lock, handle or any hardware this is possible. In order to fit we require to have the lock supplied or delivered to us during the manufacturing process.

Three Point Lock
The Three Point Lock upgrade offers a significantly improved level of strength and security compared with standard mortice deadlocks. The multi-point lock is very easy to operate and works simultaneously combining two extra hook bolts that are situated 700mm above and below the Deadlock.
Even though these locks offer a higher level of security we find that they are also superior for outward opening doors that are extremely exposed to direct sunlight and high weather conditions. By having the three points of contact, and the fact that the hook bolts are spread 1.4m apart with tapered strike plates, these locks help keep the doors straight and lessens bow and twisting. They can even be retrofitted to doors that have already twisted by up to 8mm due to extreme weather and sun exposure.
Although we do not recommend staining or painting doors in dark colours, it’s a trend that isn’t going away, The Three Point Lock will allow your doors to lock easier and help maintain alignment when exposed to the direct sunlight. The paint finish however is a separate issue and something that must be discussed with your painter or builder.
We strongly recommend this upgrade in lock if your doors are exposed to more than 2 hours of direct sunlight daily and are outward opening or painted / stained in Dark colours. This includes doors that are exposed to several hours of partial direct sunlight (for example the bottom half of the door only for 3 to 4 hours) as they are far more likely to want to twist and bow due to the unnatural temperature variations. For warranty to be considered against these types of scenarios please discuss the sun exposure your doors will receive with your builder or designer.

Timber Panels
It is important to note that our Chamfered panelled doors do not look the same from both interior and exterior views. The interior view is generally a more ‘flat’ look whereas the exterior displays the chamfer.
Below are some images showcasing the difference. The door designs affected by this are: Wilpena, Gippsland, Tirari, Litchfield.
(THE EXTERIOR VIEW IS ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE THE INTERIOR VIEW IS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE).
Alternative Timber Species
White Oak
If you are after something lighter than the Dark Red Meranti or New Guinea Rosewood we have recently introduced a new species called “White Oak”. If you have any questions about White Oak or you would like a quote with this timber, feel free to send an email to us at sales@solidscreendoors.com.au.

Pre Finishing Options
Why We Pre-Coat Our Doors in Cutek Clear
Because many of our solid timber screen doors are finished in stain or left natural (rather than painted), we always pre-coat them in Cutek Clear prior to installation.
Cutek is a powerful wood preservative and water-repellent oil that plays a vital role in protecting your timber door. If any moisture were to pass through the mesh and reach the timber, untreated wood could eventually suffer from issues like dry rot—particularly in the worst-case scenario. Applying Cutek is the best way to prevent this from happening.
Why Full Coverage Matters?
Cutek is a migrating oil, meaning it doesn’t just stay where it’s applied—it travels across the timber. This is important to understand as:
If we were to apply Cutek only in specific areas (like inside the rebate where the mesh sits), it would eventually bleed out onto the face of the door. Even if sanded back, the oil will reappear after a few days
Similarly, applying it only to the top or bottom edges will result in visible bleed marks on the face of the door. It can even bleed underneath topcoat products like Sikkens or Intergrain, affecting the final finish.
For these reasons, we always fully pre-coat every solid screen door that is to be stained, oiled, or left with a natural timber finish in Cutek Clear before it leaves our workshop. This ensures full protection and a more consistent, professional finish once topcoats are applied.
Topcoat products (such as Sikkens or Intergrain) can be applied over Cutek Clear as per the guidance provided in our Door Designer.

How cutek oil migrates into raw timber
Painting Doors
In rare cases where a door is known to be painted, and time constraints don’t allow for the CUTEK® curing process, we may choose not to apply CUTEK. Instead, we’ll use a paint undercoat in the mesh rebate area only. This helps save time and avoids the need to wait for oil curing before painting. This approach is only used when necessary and is carefully considered on a case-by-case basis. (See below for example)
Australia Wide Delivery
- Furniture removalist
- General freight
Furniture removalists
This type of removal ensures that your doors are handled with care, including being individually wrapped in packing blankets for safe delivery. This service does not require us to make a box because once the doors are loaded onto the truck, they will not be moved or unloaded anywhere but at your site. We provide corner boxes that are fixed into your door frame with batten screws, this is done to further protect your door during travel. (shown to the right).
- Furniture Removalist: Experts in moving this type of freight, furniture removalist make unloading much easier for our customers, as there are two delivery drivers to handle the unloading at your site. This eliminates the need for multiple people to be present for your delivery.
- Regular Updates: You will be regularly kept informed via phone calls about the whereabouts of your delivery and the approximate delivery day and time.
- Frequency: This service runs less frequently when compared to general freight. Removalists sometimes work over the weekends, so there is a possibility that delivery may be required on a Saturday or Sunday. This freight method depends on the furniture removalists’ schedule, so it may not always be an option for your area if you require delivery at a certain time.
